From the Bertoft Island to Åbo's Climate Plan
On the island Satavaa, south of Åbo in the beautiful archipelago, a branch of my family tree has settled since many years back. I just have to share how a stop there led to an interview at the Town Hall in Åbo.
Long time no see. Lovely dinner with Erik (my father's cousin) and Anna (my father's cousin Ola's daughter), whom I met for the first time (!). Anna happened to work for Åbo Commune so she texted her office between the main course and dessert and arranged an interview for me with Björn Grönholm the next morning (see video snippet below) about the city of Åbo and its efforts to team up with major cities around the Baltic Sea to clean up and restore the marine environment and balance.
Sailing up the river and into Åbo around legendary ships was memorable...
A short snippet of the interview with Björn Grönholm, Head of the Union Of Baltic Cities. We talked about joint city sustainability programs for the Baltic Sea and about city water management in Åbo.
More about family...
Relatives all over the place on the island...
Ola, Erik, and Erik's son Oscar.
